 QUESTION TIME

Ex-Eternal singer Louise is hoping to have her fourth Top 10 hit this year when her new single One Kiss From Heaven is released in a fortnight. But she's got a long way to go to match the achievements of her hero Stevie Wonder as she tells JOHN EARLS...

 WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK?

Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus by John Gray. It's all about relationships. It's really funny and is great for tips on how to understand your partner.

 WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE?

Stevie Wonder without a doubt. Firstly for his music, which my dad constantly played in our flat when I was growing up in a small Sussex village near East Grinstead. Then, when I was older and learned more about him, I just thought he was so amazing. It must have taken so much courage and strength for him to get where he is today despite being blind. Basically, he's mad about his music and that shows in the songs he creates. He's the masterblaster for me - a model for us all.

 WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE TV PROGRAM?

It's got to be Absolutely Fabulous. I watch videos of it and think it's just so funny. The humour isn't cruel or in bad taste. The characters are great, especially Joanna Lumley's and the thing I love most about it is that when you watch it you think "Yes, I know someone like that".

 WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST ROMANCE?

Most of my friends had serious boyfriends when they were 16 but mine didn't start until I was 18! I don't know why. It lasted quite a while but in the end we just grew up and became different people. His name's secret and we're still friends but I'm too busy now to have a serious relationship.

WHAT WAS THE FIRST RECORD YOU BOUGHT?

Save All Your Kisses For Me by The Brotherhood Of Man. It won the Eurovision Song Contest when I was a little girl and I loved it. I remember getting home and just looking at it - it was all orange and pink. And yes, before you ask, I did used to sing along to it in my bedroom pretending my hairbrush was a microphone.

 WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE PHOTOGRAPH?

There have been lots that have been taken at Christmas when I have a big girls' night out with all my friends from the Italia Conti dance school and someone always brings a camera along. The pictures usually turn out to be amusing and that's my favourite kind of photo - one that makes you laugh and reminds you of happy times.

 WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE FILM?

When I was in my teens I loved About Last Night with Rob Lowe and Demie Moore. If I saw it now I'd probably feel differently but back then it was THE girlie film when we were growing up. You know, we were all wondering when we were going to fall in love and this film said everything about relationships to me. Oh, and Rob Lowe was pretty cute as well so that might of had something to do with it!

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE ITEM OF CLOTHING?

My lovely Adidas Torsion Trainers. They're navy blue with yellow stripes, and they're great. I wear them all day. I'd wear them in bed if I could. I like being relaxed and my trainers don't pinch my toes so that's good news. And, no, they don't smell at all. I wear socks with them so there's no need for odour eaters round my house.

 WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE FOOD?

I love Italian food and I'm also vegetarian so it's got to be vegetable lasagne. I don't usually cook for myself because I can't. I once cooked Sunday lunch at my friends and I just couldn't get everything ready at the same time - it took about five hours.

 WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE POSSESSION?

My watch. It's a solid silver Cartier and I'm very careful that I don't loose it. I don't know how much it cost but that's not the point. It was bought for me by a special friend last year and means so much. It's very personal.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE/HATE MOST ABOUT YOUR BODY?

I've got great hands and nails. I don't treat them specially or anything like that. They just came that way. And my nails just grow hard - hard as nails me! What I hate about my body are my legs. I've got boys' legs without the hairs, there like my brother's. My thighs are like footballer's thighs and although I have played football before - during a Smash Hits charity tournament - I could do without looking like a footballer thank you very much. Let's just say I'm no Naomi Campbell when it comes to the leg department.

WHAT WAS YOUR MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT?

There have been so many! I remember a particular one when I was performing with Eternal on our first tour. The concert was going really well when halfway through a song I dropped my mike. There was a horrible moment as I watched it roll across the stage and fall into the audience. Instinctively, I just followed it, so there I was on the floor in the crowd looking for my mike with the other girls trying to carry on singing, wondering what the heck I was up to.
