THE GLAMOROUS GODDESS OF POP IS BACK AND THE WORLD SEEMS A BETTER PLACE FOR IT!
DID YOU GET BORED DURING YOUR TIME OFF?
I had some days where it was absolutely lovely, but others where I thought I was going off my head! And I had days when it seemed that whenever I turned on the TV there was more new solo female singers coming out - hoards of 'em! I did get a li'l worried about making my comeback!
DID YOU STILL GET UP AND DRESSED, OR LIE IN AND SLOB AROUND THE HOUSE?
I totally slobbed out watching daytime TV! The only time I bothered getting dressed up was if I was going out somewhere. But I couldn't spend the whole day in my dressing gown, even if I wasn't going out I had to have a shower and put on a pair of jogging bottoms.
WERE YOU WORRIED THE POP WORLD HAD LEFT YOU BEHIND?
Yes cause you never know if people are going to be interested in you after a long break. I mean you can have a really good song, but you rely on other people giving you the chance to talk about it and to play it. So you never know if people are going to say, 'Louise in our magazine? Forget it!'
SO LOU, HOW HAS THE POP WORLD CHANGED SINCE YOU'VE BEEN AWAY?
I think there are a lot more acts now. I did a show the other week, and there were a few boy bands on and the rest were girls. It made me laugh 'cause I remember when it was the other way around. There's definitely more competition. I did a road show recently and I remember thinking, 'Please let there be someone there I know,' but I didn't know any of them!
DID YOU HAVE TO GET IN SHAPE FOR YOUR COMEBACK?
Yeah, I went to the gym about three times a week 'cause I'm the kinda person who puts on weight if I slob out. I'm not naturally slim - I have to work at it. Everyone swore to me that if I started going regularly to the gym I'd get into it, but I'm sorry, I still absolutely hate it!
WHAT DID YOU MISS ABOUT BEING IN THE LIMELIGHT?
I missed having my own career. I love doing what I do, and the fact that suddenly I didn't have a reason for getting up in the morning was really hard to accept at first.
AND WHAT DID YOU CHERISH ABOUT IT?
I loved spending time with Jamie and my friends. Before I took a break, if a friend asked me out for their birthday or whatever, I'd always have to check to make sure I wasn't working. Then all of a sudden, I was able to just say, 'Yeah sure, see ya there!'
DID YOU AND JAMIE GET ON EACH OTHER'S NERVES WHEN YOU WEREN'T WORKING?
I think the only time I drove him mad was when I got a bit nervous about getting back into it. One day I'd get home and I'd really love this song, and another day I'd come home and say, 'It's no good!' Then Jamie would tell me to go back to the studio!
DID YOU FORGET WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO BE IN THE SPOTLIGHT?
I forgot how hard you work like the 4:00am starts when you're doing breakfast TV. Then there's all the travelling and living out of a suitcase - that can be hard too.
ARE YOU GOING TO HAVE ANOTHER LONG BREAK AFTER YOUR NEXT ALBUM?
I'd really like to make another album, and I shouldn't really say this 'cause it's tempting fate, but I'd like to have a baby in between this album and the next!
